Choosing shower doors used to be a trade-off between style and function, but manufacturers are now coming up with shower door designs that effectively combine both. Sterling, a company specializing in bathroom fixtures, is one of the leading names in high-quality shower doors. Sterling shower doors are made with high-quality stainless steel and Vikrell™, its trademark fiberglass product. Vikrell™ is well known in the industry and among Sterling buyers for its even color, long life, and excellent performance. There are also many shower door designs available. Here are some of the popular choices in Sterling shower doors. Framed and frameless shower doors In a framed Sterling door, glass or Vikrell™ panels are held together by stainless steel rods and backings. The metal frames are designed to accept common door attachments, such as curtain rods and towel racks. Frameless doors, on the other hand, have no metal frames and minimal hardware, creating the light, delicate look of pure glass. The glass is specially tempered and treated to compensate for the lack of frames. You can choose from clear glass and partially or fully sandblasted glass for a translucent finish. Bi-fold shower doors These shower doors consist of two identical panels, joined by a hinge accordion-style. Ideal for tight shower enclosures, bi-fold doors take up minimum space and are fairly easy to maintain. Bi-fold Sterling shower doors are designed to open inward, so that the water drips into the shower tray instead of the floor. Neo-angle shower doors These are three-part systems consisting of two fixed panels with a center door in between. Designed mostly for corner cubicles, Sterling’s neo-angle doors offer a unique twist on the traditional quarter-circle enclosure while still maximizing space and maintaining visual appeal. Bypass shower doors Bypass shower doors are basically modified sliding doors. They are made up of at least two panels, attached to the top of the door frame and fitted with rollers. They are opened by sliding them sideways along separate tracks, so that one panel slides in front of the other. Tri-fold shower doors These are similar to bypass doors, except that they have three panels that overlap each other as they slide along the tracks. They allow larger openings for easier entry and can be opened from both directions. Sterling offers both bypass and tri-panel doors in removable, rattle-free, and plastic center tracks. Hinge shower doors Hinge doors open sideways like regular knobbed doors. For extra sturdiness, Sterling’s hinged doors have a jointed hinges spanning the entire edge. Most of them swing outward, so be sure to clear the door’s swing path to avoid hitting other fixtures while opening. Pivot shower doors These are single framed panels designed to rotate within the door opening. They are attached to the top and bottom opening by pivot hinges. Sterling’s pivot shower doors are ideal for shower enclosures with narrow openings, and for bathrooms with limited swing-out space. |
