How to choose the right sink for your bathroom

The bathroom sink is a very important part of every well designed bathroom. A well chosen sink can be both fashionable and functional. However, there are plenty of things for you to consider when trying to pick the right bathroom sink. First, you will have to know how much your bathroom is used, whether you are more interested in the way the sink looks than in its functionality and what type of sink is going to fit your new bathroom design. For instance, if you are interested to decorate the guest bath, you are likely to be more interested in the way this space looks than in its typical functionality.

Such a bathroom is more likely to be smaller than the usual bathrooms and it is less expensive to design because the materials will cost less. Since your need for storage in a guest bath isn't so great, you may go for the stand sink or the pedestal sink. These types of sinks will require less space, are far more decorative than the usual sinks and will make your guest bath feel larger. In order to switch to these types of sinks, you will have to plan on redoing the bathroom floor because their footprints are smaller than the traditional Cabinet sink. A decorative wall faucet will provide the whole sink area with a quite unique look but you will also have to spend more money because the wall faucets are among the most expensive bathroom accessories on the market.

When planning to decorate the most used bathroom in your house and choose a sink for this space, you will have to consider other things because all the daily functions of getting ready for the day will happen in this particular bathroom. So, when you are planning the way your sink should look, you will also have to think about how much you are going to use this sink for each of the daily tasks. For instance, you might consider installing two sinks especially if more than one person will use the bathroom. Some decorative sinks would look nice but you should think about the function and not the form when it comes to decorating a bathroom that is used all day long. So, you should go for the oversized sinks because these sinks can make cleaning easier while containing the task right at hand. Also look for the best faucets because these sinks tend to be used more. Here are the main types of sinks:

The self rimming sinks - they come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and hole configurations. These sinks can be mounted right from above the counter by using a visible rim. A self rimming sink can be used almost with every type of countertops. The under mount sinks - they can be installed from underneath the solid surface counter top and they don’t have a rim. Pedestal sinks - they are freestanding and can save a lot of space. They are the perfect choice if you have a smaller bathroom. The vessel sinks - they sit right on the top of furniture top or counter and they come in a wide range of designs and shapes. A tall vessel filler or wall-mounted faucet that provides an adequate clearance is the common faucet for this application. Some of these vessel sinks will come with some pre-drilled holes in order for the faucets to be mounted to the vessel.
