Vessel and floating sinks |
Vessel and floating sinks are a favorite among modern bathroom designers because of their clean yet edgy look, as well as their easy installation and maintenance. They are a staple in most contemporary bathrooms and vanities, as well as minimalist-style bathrooms. They are also very versatile, with a wide range of shapes, colors, and materials to choose from. Vessel sinks resemble large bowls that rest on top of a counter or base. Most of them are above-counter models, where the entire vessel is above the countertop. The rims are well elevated from waist level, which makes them ideal for tall people. Low counters will also benefit from this design because it creates an illusion of height. Some vessel sinks are the semi-recessed type. These sinks are partly lodged into the counter, either from the front or top. Semi-recessed vessel sinks are great for small bathrooms, because they are both stylish and space-saving. They are also easier to maintain than above-counter vessels because there is less exposed area that can gather dirt or mold. Floating sinks are shaped much like vessel sinks, but they can be mounted both on walls and countertops. Countertop floating sinks are usually the above-counter type and are made of delicate, light-colored materials, such as glass. Some of the more creative models have elongated bottoms that fit into a specially shaped wall bracket, so that they appear to float along the walls. Floating sinks are a great way to achieve a unique contemporary design without using up too much floor space. |
