Bathroom Shower Tile Designs

Shower Tile DesignsDesigning your shower using bathroom tiles is both exciting and complicated. There are so many design options that you can choose, but because of the many choices, deciding on that one perfect design can become tricky. Hence, it is important to settle on a bathroom shower tile design that exhibits the mood, character, or look that you want your bathroom to project.

Below are some tile designs and advice that you can consider when deciding on a look for your bathroom shower:

01Shower tiles come in an endless selection of designs. You can get ready-made templates available in average bulk tiles and creatively hand-painted pieces. You can also have shower tiles customized according to your specifications and preferences.

02Decorating your shower with ceramic tiles is an excellent way of sprucing it up without doing so much work. Ceramic tiles do not fade, corrode, or easily get damaged even with the high humidity caused by the hot water in the shower. Moreover, they do not require any special solution to clean them. They can be cleaned and maintained just by using a standard bathroom cleanser, bleach, or baking soda.

03Before deciding on the design and pattern you want for your shower tiles, you have to be familiar with the three primary types of tiles first, and they are: field, accent, and trim.  Field tiles have simple shapes (usually square), but they come in a large selection of colors and designs. They are ideal for covering large shower areas. Accent tiles, on the other hand, have unique designs and unusual shapes, textures, and sheens. They are ideal for turning ordinary tile patterns into something very creative and one of a kind. Trim tiles serve as border tiles. They are narrow pieces designed to be set along the edges of your shower area.

04If your shower area has a limited space, choose light-colored tiles to make it appear larger. For added effect, make sure to use accent tiles in contrasting colors.

05The color of your shower tiles should match or compliment the entire color scheme of your bathroom including the floors, walls, and counters. Do not forget to create a focal point for your bathroom for a cohesive design.

06Use bathroom shower tiles in two to three color schemes to create a subtle and classy look for your shower. You can add color to your tiles by randomly inserting tiles in contrasting shades and tones in between.

07Your choice of grout color is another essential design element when designing your shower tiles. Using the proper grout color, whether matching or contrasting, can make your shower tile design come together effectively. If you want a more visible pattern, choose a high contrasting grout color. If you want the traditional checkered look, try contrasting black shower tiles with white grout, or white shower tiles with black grout.
