How to choose a toilet for your modern bathroom

toiletWhen you are remodelling your modern bathroom then the toilet is one of the most important factors involved. There are many toilets that you can choose from, in an almost infinite number of styles and designs.

While there are many different toilet designs, many of them have similar features and aspects to them. In this article you will see how to best choose a toilet that will fit in perfectly with your bathroom. You will also understand the options that you have available to you.

The first thing that you need to consider is the size of the toilet that you need to accommodate your bathroom. Unless your bathroom is completely new or revamped, you will have toilet boltholes already in place, as well as a waste outlet. If you know this information, then you need to make this is your first consideration.

Before choosing a design, you need to have this information to hand.

This is known as the rough in size. Within the United States, you can find ten inch, twelve inch and fourteen-inch toilets. The most common is the twelve-inch size, but you will need to measure your current toilet in order to be totally accurate.

You will need this information before you can start to search online and through the hardware stores.

Once you have this sorted out, you need to think about the flushing capability of the toilet, as there are some variations here also. Some of the new toilets are designed with 1.6 gallons of water while some others have different capacities.

There are also two different types methods of flushing. You can choose from a gravity fed system or a pressure-assisted system. Pressure assisted toilets are the new generation and now preferred by most people in modern bathrooms. Pressure assisted toilets are more expensive, so you need to consider this if you are on a budget.

The next thing that you need to consider is whether you would prefer a round bowl or an elongated bowl. Again, this will come down to personal preference. The round bowls are smaller and cost less. They are also more compact so work very well for smaller bathrooms. If you have a small bathroom, then I would recommend this for you.

The elongated bowls have more surface area and are a better option for larger people. They are also more comfortable for adults. On top of this, you need to think about buying a one or two-piece toilet. You might want to choose the one-piece toilet, as they are more compact and much easier to clean.

This is where you have the most design options. You can find what really fits into your bathroom décor and then choose something based on this. A two-piece toilet will work very well in a large bathroom.

You can also choose the color of the toilet that you want, plus any extra design features that you might want.

If you follow the ideas and suggestion above, then you will know the measurements and functional aspects of the toilet you need, as well as choosing the best design for your bathroom.
