Clawfoot Bathtub Styles
One of the most classical styles of bathtubs today is the clawfoot bathtub.  Used by generations of people all over the world, the clawfoot bathtub design is considered to be one of the most versatile and sophisticated styles of bathtubs around.  The bathtubs can be found in any type of home, from apartments to single family homes to mansions on estates, and seems perfectly at place in any of the homes that they are found in.

In many cases, the clawfoot bathtub is the centerpiece of the bathroom, so it is important that the homeowner choose an attractive and stylish design for the bathtub.  The décor of the bathroom may be changed to fit the bathtub that is chosen or the bathtub style that is chosen can be used to complement existing décor.  It does not matter what size the bathroom may be as many types of clawfoot bathtubs are suited for both larger and smaller areas.

All clawfoot bathtubs share the same basic features.  The bathtub is a freestanding bathtub that can be placed anywhere in the room, as long as the bathtub can be drained properly.  The bathtub sits on four legs with feet or balls at the bottom of equal length for stability.  When the bathtubs were first introduced to the population, many of the feet designs actually looked like the feet of animals which resulted in the clawfoot name.  The faucets and fixtures can either be mounted on the wall at the end or side of the bathtub or fixed to the bathtub itself.

There are many variations in the designs of the clawfoot bathtubs.  Some of the bathtubs are level all the way around the rim of the bathtub, resulting in a more traditional design, while some others like their bathtubs to sport a more creative design, such as the slipper or dual end styles.  All of these styles are generally created in white porcelain to match the décor of any bathroom, but the bathtubs may be painted or have decals applied if ordered direct from a manufacturer.

The feet of the clawfoot bathtub can be found in a number of different styles as well.  The feet may be designed to resemble blocks, balls, animal feet, or other fanciful designs created to appeal to the consumers that are looking for a different kind of look.  The feet can be found in a number of different finishes as well, including nearly every metal finish commonly used in fixtures, painted metal, and acrylic.  With the wide variety of styles and designs available, any homeowner will be able to find a clawfoot bathtub that will look great in their bathroom area.
