Different Styles Of Shower Lighting
Showers are some of the most used fixtures in the home, with many people using them on a daily basis.  It is important to have adequate lighting in the shower area of the bathroom for safety reasons because it is easy to slip on the soapy wet surface of the shower or get hurt in a variety of other ways if you not have enough lighting to see properly in the shower area.  There are several different styles of shower lighting that can be chosen for use in the bathroom and each style can be use to enhance the overall appearance of the shower.

Just because the lighting is in the shower area does not mean that you cannot get creative with the lighting style and design.  Yes, the selection of what type of lighting can be used in the area will be limited because it is important that the lighting can be safely used in the shower area, but where and how the lighting is placed in the shower can be tweaked to create a look that is purely your own.  Here are some lighting styles that can be used in the shower and some tips on placement that can make the lighting more attractive.

The most commonly used lights in the shower area of the bathroom are called, not surprisingly, shower lights.  These lights are small round lights set into waterproof casings that can be used virtually anywhere in the shower area.  The placement of the lights is what can turn these traditional shower lights into a unique lighting design.

Some people choose to place their shower lights into the ceiling of their shower into a specific pattern or design, such as a star, a sunburst, a grid, or a circle, to complement the décor of their bathroom.  These lights may also be used with a dimmer switch to increase or decrease the amount of light that is in the shower area to make it more comfortable for the homeowner and their family.  The lights can also be used in the walls and even on the floor of the shower due to their strong, waterproof design.

Another lighting option for the shower area is a single overhead globe that diffuses light throughout the shower area.  There are many different designs that can be used for this lighting style, including a decorative globe with raised designs, a ball globe that resembles a tiny moon, and the flattened style that is generally surrounded by a ring of metal designed to complement the light and add style to the décor.  Choosing one of these globe designs for your shower lighting will not be difficult, but it is important to make sure that the lighting fixture is waterproof before installing it in the bathroom area.

Today, there are even lighting styles that place the lights in the showerheads of the shower.  These specialty showerheads are designed to be used with any standard shower and will provide the user with a beam of colorful light whenever the shower is used.  Common colors used for these showerheads include blue, green, purple, and red.  The manufacturer's instructions will provide specific details on how to install the showerhead properly and once the showerhead is installed, the homeowner will have unique look that they will be able to enjoy for many years.
